Egg bearing robber crab

Blatting about: lifeThis is a Christmas Island Robber Crab.  It is carrying eggs (that mass of black with red dots under the back end).  Apparently these things are still something of a mystery.  Many people have seen them carting eggs around, but despite all our modern technological advances, no one has seen them spawn yet. We spotted four...

The dangers of parking your ship next to a cliff

Blatting about: lifeIf a storm rolls in unexpectedly (or just unexpectedly fast), it could get battered quite severely. This was taken a bit earlier today by Josh who raced down with his camera as soon as my parents came back from church and informed us that the waves at the Cove were knocking the cargo ship that was in about the place.  Rumour...

Family themed photos and miscellaneous ramblings

Blatting about: home educationwebmonkeyingAEfter RagnarokYesterday, we went out for a drive.  Christmas Island isn't the biggest island in the world, if you point the car's nose down the road and drive without stopping along any major track you'll end up back where you started in about half an hour. We went out in an exploratory mood and took...

New age, new year, not new resolutions, and photos

Blatting about: lifeAEfter RagnarokHappy new year everyone! gleki ninyna'anunsla if you speak lojban Somehow, from somewhere, I have this 7 year old. The Little Big Boy turned 7 a couple of days ago.  He requested and got a chocolate cake which my mum made.  It was very tasty.  The "oldies" were commenting on how fast he turned 7.  I'm trying...

Christmas shenanigans and everything else

Blatting about: lifeI'm home! And damn it feels good.Christmas shenanigansChristmas Eve: Sprat wanted me to help wrap the last of the presents.  I asked if she was sure she wanted MY help.  Apparently she was.  So we settled down to wrap.  First thing I did was accidentally tear the wrapping paper.  She then suggested I cut sticky tape as...

Backup malarky and prelimary theAbysmal scripts

Blatting about: webmonkeyingIf this post disappears, it's entirely my fault as I told the provider that this site could just be rolled back to the last backup (assuming the last backup he had was more recent than the one I had). What happened with the backups? It's a long and sordid story.Actually it's not that long, just slightly confusing. ...

Equal Rights

Blatting about: lifeEarlier today, I got an email from AllOut requesting signatures for this petition (the image from which I've stolen).Last week I got this email from Getup requesting donations to get a letter by a psychologist to the government run as an ad in a couple of major newspapers. The week before that, another email from GetUp wanting...

The Writing on the Wall

Emotion: laugh.gif That page was just something I doodled up at work when I couldn't work on my webcomic (no Photoshop at the ol' 9-5). You spend too much time looking at one thing and you're bound to burn out, so sometimes you gotta do something different.

And actually I don't really dig the chainmail bikini concept either; I built this other concept specifically to be more family-friendly and universally appealing.

Thanks!

Oh, it was a transparent png. I'd say that's what happened Emotion: smile.gif
Thanks!

Eeeew, how did that stuff get there? I shall fix that and put a background.

I'm actually moving away from community sites for the most part...I mean, I've got such longevity at deviantART that I'll likely never leave it, but my focus is now on creating something with purpose, not just pretty pictures for practice or for impressing people. I've been talking for years about producing comics, and I've finally gotten off my lazy behind to work on one. I'm building a website to host the comics from which I'll be announcing in time, and I'm pretty much shunning all other projects, both from my own head and from requests from others, so I can focus on building a worthwhile project. That, or at least learning whether or not it will work so I can get it off my mind and try something else.

Thank you very much for the input. I should confess this is one I pulled from my deviantart gallery.

I see the grass that you're talking about. I'll have to remember it for next time and try to avoid that.

Again, thank you. Emotion: smile.gif

Thanks for commenting! (I didn't even realize my Tumblr feed connected to Artician). As for what the character is wearing...I guess I should have linked the original character image so you could see what little of her clothing was left on...come to think of it perhaps too much detail was lost in the translation to the noir version. The straight line design in the original bg was just for what you said; to contrast the curves of the main figure.

Thanks for the feedback ryivhnn! I am actually going back through and making this character, the fox character, and my kangaroo dragon character. What you see going on around the legs was supposed to be fur. with the new version it will be feathers though as I will have a lot more time to texture. I have learned a lot more about zbrush so I am looking forward to getting better results this time. Emotion: smile.gif There is not an animated form of him, but with the remake I will probably break his wings into two joints and put textured planes with feathers on them into the joints so that the wings can actually fold up.

Hmm, nope I don't want to be part of the society that casts people unworthy of their skills out, I want to be part of the society that encourages sharing and helping one another to do better Emotion: smile.gif (sounds like a distant dream, but still...)

Eh...the only international school that comes to mind is Penang Free School ^^; (and then there's newer ones coming up, from what I heard...)

Haha sounds like it's a fun experience Emotion: wink.gif (on the plus side, looking younger than our age is always a good thing XD)
But I wouldn't say it's wholly an Asian thing --- I used to have a head lecturer back in the UK, he's Australian but grew up in Germany, and in that one year we know him, we figured he's in his early thirties (y'know, slim build, hardly any wrinkles, still looked to be able to run a marathon, all that). Imagine our surprise when he confessed on the last day that he's about to hit 50. 50!! (but no matter what, he's still dashing for that age haha XD)
